The History of GraceLife Church
The inaugural service of GraceLife Church (GLC) was held on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at the historic Purcell Friendship
Hall on the campus of Milton Hershey School with over 80 people in attendance. Founding and Lead Pastor Dave Cunningham preached a powerful message entitled “The Grace Life” and a special celebration brunch followed the service. Pastor Cunningham, along with Executive Pastor of Ministries Flip Michaels, Worship Leader Bruce Burkholder and Financial Secretary Tim Wasielewski formed GLC’s initial Leadership Team.
For the first two months, and as the church began to grow, GLC met in the Spartan Club Room in the lower level of the Southfield Building on the campus of Milton Hershey School. By God’s grace, the church quickly outgrew the facility and it became increasingly apparent that a larger, more versatile building was going to be necessary.
In God’s perfect plan and providence, GLC entered into an extended lease agreement with the Annville-Cleona School District to utilize the vacant North Annville Elementary School. Originally, as the sole tenant and occupant of the school property, GLC purchased all of the necessary equipment and furniture needed to adapt to its new church home. The first service was held there on December 4, 2011.
The new building was dedicated to the glory of the Lord on January 15, 2012 with over 130 people in attendance.
On January 22, 2012, Dave Cunningham, Flip Michaels, Bruce Burkholder, Jeff Miller, Tim Wasielewski and Leon Ziegler were commissioned to serve as the inaugural elders
of GraceLife Church. Shortly thereafter, the elders commissioned nine deacons to serve alongside of them in the work of the ministry.
As the Lord continued to build his church, and more and more families began to faithfully attend GLC, the church staff was expanded to accomodate the growth. Kasey Horvath began his ministry as Director of Student Ministries on July 1, 2013.
With the story of GraceLife Church still excitedly unfolding, we remain blessed, encouraged, and committed to the steadfast proclamation of the truth of God’s Word and the propagation of the powerful and glorious gospel of Jesus Christ. May we be diligent and faithful to the task set before us until Jesus returns for His church!
